MALEME STREET WASTE TRANSFER STATION

Marra completed this project in December 1998 for the Tauranga District Council having being awarded this purpose built Refuse Transfer Station project on a design and build basis. This included all building construction as well as civil work, roading, underground pit construction and temporary sediment ponds and drainage systems.

The $3.8 million project was completed on time and within the budget.

The design by Marra incorporates passive and forced ventilation systems, extensive use of natural light, water spraying for dust suppression and the use of flashings to eliminate as many ledges as possible to prevent dust settlement and the roosting of birds. Marra was also responsible for the design and construction of the entrance roading, gate house and necessary retaining walls.
